Job Description:
Business Analyst job opportunity located in Washington,
DC.
This is a 6 month contract which is likely to extend long term
based on performance and budget.
Responsibilities:
• Interface with the client to understand and document business
needs and requirements relating to the development and maintenance
of the systems used for departmental/corporate needs. Further, the
Business Analyst is expected to help develop and maintain the
client relationship with the line of business staff members
• Identify business and functional requirements by working
primarily with the client officer and line of business staff
members and end-users, and lead the collection, analysis,
documentation and coordination of those requirements.
• Craft business cases/ use cases/ sequence of events/ system
interactions if any
• Collaborate with IT professionals to determine if solutions
currently exist (internally or externally) or whether new solutions
are feasible to meet requirements.
• Provide overall support to ensure the successful design, testing
and implementation of QRA applications.
• Document and manage issues and actions during the course of the
project and track to closure action items related to scope
• Evaluate applications and analyze gaps between current and
desired states.
• Document business and IT processes and workflows as it relates to
the business need.
• Participate in the design and development of applications
representing the clients perspective
• Good knowledge and experience with banking/ financial services
products/ tools.
• Extensive experience in documenting business requirements,
developing functional specifications, defining test cases,
executing test scripts, and providing user training and
support.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Quantitative background would be helpful for mathematical
analysis
• Fundamental knowledge of SharePoint and .Net based technologies
would be an asset
SKILLS:
• He/she must have at least years 6 years of experience in being a
Business Analyst. Four years Technical degree, preferably in
Computer Science or Engineering, or an MBA.
Required Skills:
1. Extensive experience in eliciting requirements using interviews,
questionnaires, use cases, scenarios, task and workflow
analysis
2. Ability to translate requirements into visual representation
with diagrams, flow charts, state diagrams, sequence diagrams,
mockups & wireframes.
3. Proactively communicate and collaborate with sponsors to analyze
information and prepare detailed business case & functional
requirements.
4. Experience with short cycles and requirements analysis/
definition for rapid application development
5. Work independently and engage in multiple initiatives /
projects
6. Strong analytical skills to understand problem statement and
help define requirements
7. Serves as a communication channel between sponsor and
development team
8. Subject matter knowledge of financial products & services
9. Excellent written and verbal skills
10. Knowledge and appreciation of technology platforms and
assisting the team with preparation of test scenarios
11. Knowledge of Rational / Visio tools is a bonus
12. Ability to understand existing application set and be able to
work with the team for re-use / make analysis
